The Dead House

A play written and performed by Martin Warde.

Following its sold out tour of Ireland, the ICC is delighted to bring the magnificent hit theatre play, “The Dead House”, written and performed by the riveting actor, Martin Warde Beanz, to London for its UK Premiere!

We are gathered at the dead house. Such a morbid name, I mean, there is still another person alive in that place, my granny.

My grandfather’s cold and lifeless body is laid out so that we can all have a final moment to say goodbye. “Goodbye grandad”, as if he can even hear us.”

Patrick is an Irish Traveller who hasn’t been home in 10 years but returns from self-exile for his grandfather’s funeral.

Comedian and writer Martin Warde’s debut play is a powerful and moving dark comedy that explores complex themes of family, tradition, and self-acceptance.

Set in the house of the deceased, the play is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of finding one’s voice and identity.

About The Playwright and Actor Martin Warde Beanz:

Martin Warde, a member of the Irish Traveller community, holds a Sociology and Politics degree from NUIG and an MA in Journalism from UL. He is a stand-up comedian, writer, theatre-maker, and photographer. Martin advocates for better representation of his community in Irish media. His play “The Dead House” has had a sold-out run at Dublin Theatre Festival, Galway Theatre Festival, and Kilkenny Arts Festival.

He writes for major Irish newspapers and appears on RTE and Virgin Media. Martin’s TV series “The End of the World with Beanz” aired on RTE One in March 2024 with series 2 coming in 2025″. Martin is currently performing in ‘The Borrowers’ at Dublin’s Gate Theatre until January 12th 2025.

1. Introduction

At the Irish Cultural Centre Hammersmith, we are committed to providing an exceptional cultural experience to our patrons. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise that could prevent you from attending an event for which you have purchased tickets. This Refund Policy outlines our guidelines for ticket refunds and exchanges.

2. Eligibility for Refunds

2.1 Cancelled Events: In the event that a scheduled event is cancelled by the Irish Cultural Centre Hammersmith, you will be entitled to a full refund of the ticket price, including any service fees.

2.2 Rescheduled Events: If an event is rescheduled to a different date, your ticket will be valid for the rescheduled date. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event, you may request a refund.

2.3 Postponed Events: If an event is postponed, and the new date is not announced immediately, your ticket will be valid for the rescheduled date once it is confirmed. If you cannot attend the rescheduled date, you may request a refund.

2.4 Change of Program or Venue: We reserve the right to make changes to the program or venue. In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to inform ticket holders of any changes. Tickets will remain valid for the modified event, but if you cannot attend due to the changes, you may request a refund.

3. Refund Requests

3.1 Refund Deadline: Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of the date of the event. Requests received after this period will not be considered.

3.2 How to Request a Refund: To request a refund, please contact our Box Office. Please provide your name, order number, event details, and the reason for your refund request.

4. Refund Process

4.1 Processing Time: Refunds will be processed within 3-5 business days after receiving a valid refund request.

4.2 Refund Method: Refunds will be issued using the same payment method used for the original purchase. If the event was cancelled, refunds will include the full ticket price, including service fees.

5. No-Refund Exceptions

5.1 Late Arrival: We strongly recommend arriving at the event on time. Late arrival may result in the forfeiture of your ticket without refund.

5.2 Personal Reasons: Refunds will not be provided for tickets that cannot be used due to personal reasons, such as illness or travel conflicts.

5.3 Lost or Stolen Tickets: We are not responsible for lost or stolen tickets. Please keep your tickets in a safe place.
