Description

After their splendid, sell-out production of ‘Mrs. Warren’s Profession’ last year at Shaw’s Corner (the home of GBS), the ICC is delighted to welcome the dynamic Theatre Company SHAW2020, who’ll present a revival of their award winning one-act production of George Bernard Shaw’s ‘Village Wooing’ to mark the birthday weekend of the great Irish writer.

Village Wooing: A Comedietta for Two Voices – is an anti-romantic battle of the sexes comedy by George Bernard Shaw. A charming two-hander in which the characters, simply named ‘A’ and ‘Z’, play a relentless game of cat and mouse across land and sea.

Shaw’s Village Wooing dives into the funny and often ridiculous side of love and marriage; we see how power dynamics and class shape a relationship.

This production was winner of a London Pub Theatres ‘Standing Ovation Award’, plus ‘Best Performance’, and ‘Best Show’ at The Birmingham Fringe Festival, and a finalist for an OffFest Award.

The award-winning theatre company SHAW2020 explore the theatre and writings of Bernard Shaw, bringing his works to a wider, more diverse audience. The play will be directed by SHAW2020 Artistic Director Jonas Cemm FRSA, and will star Joe Sargent and Maryann O’Brien..

The production will be followed by a Q&A with the Cast and Director, hosted by the Irish actor Billy Boyle.
