Description

The ICC is delighted to present this special illustrated talk by the Internationally acclaimed Irish photographer John Minihan.

John Minihan first met Samuel Beckett in May 1980, and was to photograph him many times thereafter in both Paris and London, a privilege afforded to very few. Impossible to interview and famously camera-shy, Beckett was nevertheless a remarkable photographic subject, with his wise, eagle-like face which reflected his greatness and profundity as a writer.

In this illustrated talk John Minihan will speak about his encounters with one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, Samuel Beckett and he will explain how Beckett was enthralled by his collection of photographs of “The Wake” which he had taken in his hometown Athy, in County Kildare.

John will also talk about his exhibition “Poet Of The Troubles - A Photographic Tribute To The Late Irish Poet Pádriac Fiacc” which will be on display here at the ICC from April 28th – May 31st: Entry Free – All Welcome
